syariat Islam. Bukan hanya berlaku baik terhadap suami, sang istri pun
harus berperilaku baik pula pada keluarga suami, termasuk kedua orang
tuanya, yang menjadi mertua bagi istri.
Terkadang ada istri yang tidak begitu menyukai mertuanya sendiri.

bahwa Nabi bersabda, “Seandainya aku boleh memerintahkan seseorang untuk
bersujud kepada orang lain (selain Allah), sungguh aku akan
memerintahkan seorang istri untuk bersujud kepada suaminya.”
Dalam kitab Ash-Shahih diriwayatkan bahwa Nabi SAW bersabda,
“Maukah kalian aku kabarkan tentang dosa yang paling besar? Yaitu,
menyekutukan Allah dan
mendurhakai kedua orang tua.” Kemudian beliau
duduk setelah sebelumnya bersandar dan bersabda, “Ketahuilah, juga
perkataan sia-sia.” Beliau terus menerus mengulanginya hingga kami
bergumam, “Sekiranya
Di antara sempurnanya ketaatan istri kepada suami ialah hendaknya
ia berbuat baik kepada kedua orang tua suami, berbakti kepada keduanya,
tidak berlaku buruk pada keduanya, serta bersabar terhadap apa yang
muncuk dari keduanya. Semua itu dilakukan demi meraih ridha suami agar
dengan itu ia memperoleh pahala dari Allah.
Jika ibu Anda marah pada istri Anda lantaran suau sebab yang datang
dari istri Anda, maka seyogyanya istri Anda meminta maaf darinya
sebelum ia meninggal, agar ia meninggal dalam keadaan ridha terhadap
istri Anda. Namun, jika ibu Anda telah meninggal sedangkan istri Anda
belum mengerjakan hal itu maka istri Anda wajib banyak mendoakannya agar
mendapat ampunan.
Demikian pula seorang anak wajib banyak mendoakan kedua orangtuanya
ketika keduanya masih hidup maupun sesudah meninggal. Allah berfirman,
“Dan rendahkanlah dirimu terhadap mereka berdua dengan penuh kesayangan
dan ucapkanlah, ‘Wahai Rabbku, kasihilah mereka sebagaimana mereka
berdua telah mendidikku waktu kecil’,” (QS. Al-Isra’: 24).
Adapun mengenai hal itu dianggap sebagai kedurhakaan seorang anak
kepada ibunya atau tidak, maka jawabannya adalah jika istri menyakiti
ibunya sementara ia tidak mencegahnya, melarangnya dan menghukum
perbuatan istri tersebut maka hal itu termasuk bentuk kedurhakaan.
Sehingga, ia harus banyak beristighfar dan memperbanyak amal shaleh.
Sesungguhnya Allah Mahamulia dan Mahamenerima taubat lagi Maha
Penyayang, Jika Dia mengetahui dari hamba-Nya kejujuran taubatnya maka
Dia akan menerima taubatnya.
Allah berfirman, “Katakanlah, ‘Hai hamba-hamba-Ku yang melampaui
batas terhadap diri mereka sendiri, janganlah kamu berputus asa dari
rahmat Allah. Sesungguhnya Allah mengampuni dosa-dosa semuanya.
Sesungguhnya Dialah yang Maha Pengampun lagi Maha Penyayang’,” (QS.
Az-Zumar: 53).
