Kematian adalah suatu hal yang pasti bagi setiap umat manusia.
Tapi kita tidak pernah tahu, kapan, dimana, dan bagaimana kita akan meninggal. Semua itu adalah rahasia Allah SWT. Beginilah kisah malaikat maut mencabut nyawa Nabi Muhammad SAW. Hari itu menjadi hari yang paling menyedihkan bagi umat manusia, terutama umat muslim.
Malaikat yang bertugas sebagai pencabut nyawa adalah malaikat Izrail.
Sebelum ia melakukan tugasnya, Allah SWT berpesan pada malaikat Jibril
bahwa jika Nabi Muhammad tidak menghendaki nyawanya untuk dicabut maka
malaikat Izrail dilarang untuk mencabutnya karena Nabi adalah manusia
yang paling berharga. Inilah kisah malaikat Izrail mencabut nyawa nabi
Muhammad.
Setelah itu, malaikat Izrail datang ke rumah Nabi. Kemudian ia berseru
dengan mengucapkan salam di depan pintu, ia bertanya apakah ia
diperbolehkan masuk. Tapi, putri Nabi, Fatimah tidak mengijinkannya
masuk karena pada saat itu ayahnya (Nabi) sedang mengalami sakit demam.
Dan Fatimah pun menutup pintu dan kembali menemani ayahnya.
Karena Nabi juga mendengarkan suara itu, kemudian beliau bertanya bahwa
siapakah orang yang itu. Fatimah pun tidak tahu karena ia baru pertama
kali melihatnya.
Lalu Rasulullah
memandang putrinya dengan penuh kelembutan dan kemudian
menjelaskan bahwa orang itu adalah malaikat Izrail yang akan memisahkan
Nabi dari kenikmatan sesaat dan memisahkan dari pertemuan di dunia.
Mendengarnya, Fatimah pun menahan tangisannya karena malaikat Izrail
mencabut nyawa nabi Muhammad.
Melihatnya, Rasulullah bertanya kenapa malaikat Jibril tidak datang
menyertainya. Kemudian dipanggillah malaikat Jibril dan ia datang ke
rumah Rasul. Setelah itu, Rasul bertanya pada Jibril mengenai haknya
ketika di hadapan Allah. Malaikat Jibril menjelaskan bahwa Rasul akan
dibukakan pintu-pintu langit dan semua malaikat akan menyambut Ruhnya.
Semua surga akan terbuka lebar menunggu kedatangan Rasul. Tapi hal
tersebut tidak lantas membuatnya lega. Hingga malaikat Jibril bertanya
apakah kabar tersebut tidak membuatnya bahagia. Rasulullah menanyakan
tentang nasib umatnya kelak. Malaikat Jibril pun menenangkan Rasulullah
dan ia menjelaskan bahwa Allah pernah berfirman bahwa surga adalah
tempat yang diharamkan bagi semua orang kecuali umat Nabi Muhammad SAW.
Dan kini saatnya malaikat maut mencabut nyawa Rasulullah. Terlihat
seluruh tubuh Rasul bersimbah peluh dan semua urat lehernya mulai
menegang. Rasulullah pun mengaduhkan betapa sakitnya sakaratul maut
tersebut. Putrinya hanya terpejam tidak kuasa melihatnya. Sahabat Rasul,
Ali berada di samping rasul dengan sedikit tertunduk. Sedangkan
malaikat Jibril memalingkan wajahnya. Kemudian Rasul bertanya apakah
Jibril jijik melihat Rasul hingga ia harus membuang muka padanya. Jibril
pun menjelaskan bagaimana ia tidak tega melihat kekasih Allah kesakitan
seperti itu.
Rasulullah kembali mengaduh karena cara malaikat mencabut nyawa memang
sakit yang sangat. Tubuhnya pun mulai dingin, dada, dan kakinya sudah
tidak bisa digerakkan. Bibirnya bergetar seakan membisikkan sesuatu,
kemudian Ali mendekatkan telinganya dan Rasulullah mengatakan bahwa
peliharalah shalat dan peliharalah orang-orang yang lemah di antara
kita.
Umat manusia pun bersedih hingga terdegar suara tangisan di luar rumah
Rasul. Kemudian Rasul kembali berbisik, dan Ali kembali mendekatkan
telinganya pada Rasul. Rasul mengatakan “Umatku, umatku, umatku”.
Betapa mulianya Nabi Muhammad SAW. Meskipun dalam kesakitan yang luar
biasa, beliau masih memikirkan umat tercintanya. Bahkan ia memikirkan
nasib mereka setelah Rasulullah tiada.
