Dari sekian banyak sebab yang dapat mendatangkan kita kepada siksa kubur, salah satu nya adalah perbuatan tidak beristinja’ setelah kencing, ghibah dan namimah. Berikut ini penjelasannya berdasarkan riwayat yang telah banyak disampaikan.
1. Dari Ibnu Abbas RA bahwa Rasulullah SAW pernah bersabda saat melewati dua buah kuburan,
“Kedua mayit ini sedang disiksa. Keduanya tidak disiksa karena dosa besar. Salah satunya disiksa karena tidak beristinja’ setelah kencing dan yang lain disiksa karena selalu mengadu domba (namimah).”
Kemudian Rasulullah mengambil sebuah pelepah kurma basah dan membaginya menjadi dua, masing-masing ditancapkan pada dua kuburan tersebut. Para sahabat bertanya, “Kenapa engkau berbuat begitu?” Rasulullah menjawab, “Barangkali bisa meringankan siksa keduanya selama belum kering,” (HR. Nasa’i).
Hadits tersebut diriwayatkan dengan berbagai sanad, di antaranya dikutip al Khallal dari Abu Hurairah RA,
“Sementara yang lain selalu menjelekkan orang lain dengan lisannya dan mengadu domba.”
Juga yang dikutip Thabrani dari Aisyah, Anas bin Malik dan Ibnu Umar serta dikutip Abu yu’la dari Jabir,
“Salah satunya selalu meng-ghibah orang lain.”
Al-Astram juga mengutip riwayat Abu Umamah,
“Orang-orang mengatakan, ‘Wahai nabi, hingga kapan mereka akan disiksa?’ Rasulullah menjawab, ‘Ini adalah hal ghaib yang hanya diketahui oleh Allah. Kalau hati kalian tidak berbeda-beda dan kalau bukan karena pembicaraan kalian yang bermacam-macam, kalian pasti akan mendengar seperti yang sedang aku dengar.’”
2. Aisyah RA pernah bercerita,
“Ada seorang wanita Yahudi yang menemuiku seraya berkata, ‘Siksa kubur itu karena air kencing.’ Aku pun menanggapinya, ‘Bohong engkau.’ Dia berkata kembali, ‘Aku tidak berbohong, nanti kita pun akan menarik kulit dan pakaian karena siksa tersebut.’ Tiba-tiba Rasulullah keluar untuk menunaikan shalat, sementara pembicaraan kami terdengar semakin keras. Rasulullah bertanya, ‘Ada apa ini?’ Akupun memberitahukan apa yang telah dikatakan wanita Yahudi tersebut. Rasulullah berkata, ‘Wanita tersebut memang benar.’ Sejak itu Rasulullah tidak pernah shalat lagi kecuali selalu membaca doa usai shalat berikut, ‘Ya Tuhan, Jibril, Mikail dan israfil, lindungilah aku dari panasnya neraka dan siksa kubur,’” (HR. Nasa’i).
3. Dari Abdurrahman bin Hasanah bahwa dia mendengar Rasulullah bersabda,
“Apakah kalian tahu apa yang dialami orang bani Israil? Jika mereka sampai terkena air kencing, mereka memotong bagian tubuh yang terkena air kencing tersebut. Kemudian mereka dilarang dan diapun disiksa di kuburannya,” (HR. Abu Daud).
4. Dari Abu Hurairah RA bahwa Rasulullah bersabda, “Hal yang paling banyak menyebabkan siksa kubur adalah air kencing,” (HR. Ibnu Majah).
5. Ibnu Abbas meriwayatkan dari Rasulullah,
“Kebanyakan orang yang disiksa di alam kubur adalah karena air kencing. Jadi, bersihkanlah diri kalian dari air kencing,” (HR. Hakim).
6. Dari Anas RA, Rasulullah pernah berkata;
“Bertaqwalah kepada Allah dalam hal air kencing karena air kencing adalah hal pertama yang akan dihisab di alam kubur.”
7. Rasulullah pernah bersabda
‘Maimunah, berlindunglah kepada Allah dari siksa kubur!’
Aku bertanya, ‘Rasulullah, apakah siksa kubur benar-benar ada?’
Rasulullah menjawab, ‘Ya Maimunah, dan siksaan yang paling pedih adalah karena ghibah dan namimah.’
‘Siksaan terhadap ketiga hal tersebut terjadi di alam kubur karena alam kubur merupakan tempat kehidupan akhirat yang pertama kali.’
